The Smurfs are back!
The Smurfs were born in 1958 as the creation of a Belgian cartoonist called Peyo (real name Pierre Culliford), and are a group tiny character with blue skin and funny hats. The Smurfs have delighted children for more than 50 years, appearing in different media, including audio (songs popular), movies (for example, "The Magic Flute), books of all kinds, and toys (eg, toys Schleich).
In a Thus, the Smurfs characters can be compared with other children as the Wombles and the Muppets. They also have a range of different characters with different personalities, often reflect those of us humans. There are differences however. The Wombles illustrate how typical middle-class British life and values associated living as they do in the district of Wimbledon respectable. The Muppets may typify the New Yorker magazine, and are a little more daring, and more direct in their interactions. These characters are larger than life, and some are obviously on the basis of U.S. celebrities and a special appeal to American children.
The Smurfs appear to have a broad base of fans, care of children from many different countries around the world, of all ethnic groups and all classes. Are more mystical, indefinable, while at the same time be fun, and characters that children can identify.
Some of the best known are the Smurfs cat Azrael, Papa, clumsy, smart, baby, strong, Artist, Baker, Dreamer, Grouchy, and Smurfette. They live together happily in a village of mushroom houses somewhere far away. Do not ask where exactly, because it is a secret Smurf, but is remote.
The Smurfs have been popping up from time to time over the years many different places, and by its fiftieth anniversary, there were 15 special "Celebrity Smurfs" auctioned at Brussels City Hall. The total profit raised from the auction, was over 124,000 euros and this was donated to UNICEF. In addition, the Smurfs embarked on a successful tour Smurfday euros, taking in 15 different cities European countries. In each country a special celebrity Smurf was created. The first three were the Smurfs Smurf special surprise, a unique black smurf signed by Peyo's family, the Sympathix Schtroumpf, United Smurf and Benetton.
And now, the Smurfs are here again and soon to be presented in a joint venture by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures, a live action / animated Smurfs movie. The project is still in its early stages of development, but there are rumors that could spread to a trilogy or may even be made in 3D. No doubt, however, that the Smurfs are back!
